Storyline: An introduction to eggs. It tells about all the different types of eggs from humming birds to lady bugs  It tells about their shape, size and color.

Why I like it: I think informational books should be read to young children to help introduce them into science and history.

How to use in class: This book could be used in an art and science activity.  You could ask the 4H director to set up an incubator full of eggs and the children can document all the growth and activity of the eggs. Also, each child could draw an egg and color it.

Storyline: A book full of trucks. It describes all the different types of truck and the jobs they do.

Why I like it: I like this book because it is different from all the other books that I have done reflections on. Trucks are interesting and fun to learn about different types.

How to use in class: This book may help students that may not be interested in reading learn to read. If a student likes trucks this may motivate them to learn to read quickly or help to spark an interest in reading.

The Little Red Hen Book Reflection

Topic: Reep what you sow.

storyline: The Little Red Hen want to make bread. She does all the work needed in making bread. She constantly asks her friends to help her but they refuse. In the end the Hen eats the bread all by herself because none of her friends would help her and she refused to let them eat with her.

Why I like it: This is a classic story. I remember my mom reading this book to me. It is such a good moral story.

How to integrate in a classroom: You could use this book to help teach student team work. To achieve something someone must put in effort but they may need help.

Three Billy Goats Gruff Book Reflection

Topic: Sometime there are obstacles in the way of a better life.

Storyline: The three Billy Goats want to cross the bridge to the other side where the grass is greener but the troll will not let them pass.

Why I like it: This a great story I have always loved this book. It teaches that there may be obstacles in your life but to overcome them.

How to intergrate into a classroom:  Read the book to the students without showing them the pictures and then allow them to create their own pictures to the strory.

Why you like it: Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year. I love any book that is related to Halloween.

How would you use it in class: Have students write or draw their own Halloween story. After they write/draw their story have them read it out loud or explain it to the class.

Why you like it: I love penguins. I thought this was a cute book. The story was great because it tells a great story.

How would you use it in class?: You could use this book to show how everyone needs companionship. Sometimes being alone is not what it is cut out to be.

She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain Reflection

Storyline: The books setting is in the southwest. There are different animals waiting for her to get to their town. The animals began to wonder what she will be like when the she gets there.

Why I liked it: I love the original verison and son gof “She’ll be Coming Around the Mountain”. I found this story a great verison of “Coming Around the Mountain”.

How would you use it in class?:  This book could be used in a music lesson to introduce the song to young children. Students could play hand made instruments and sing along to the song after the teacher has read the book.

Why do you like it: Go Dog, Go! is a great book for children. This is a helpful book to teach opposites.

How would you use this in class: This book could be used to help students learn opposites. Have an opposite day where the children do everything opposites.
